Finally, Blackberry has acknowledged the existence of an Android OS running Blackberry Phone. Previously rumoured as the Blackberry Venice, the device is expected to go official as the Blackberry Priv

The Blackberry Priv is expected to be launched before the end of 2015 and will have a Sliding Keyboard. Blackberry is touting Priv as a flagship device “bringing together the best of BlackBerry security and productivity with the expansive mobile application ecosystem” of Android.

The Priv in the name is expected to mean Privacy as the device will be heavily secured and feature the various Blackberry Security, Privacy and Productivity Solutions available including the BES 12 Cross Platform solution and other Enterprise-Class Security Solution.

We are expecting official specifications from the Canadian company in coming days (or weeks). Asides the already confirmed sliding QWERTY Keyboard, the device is expected to sport a 5.5-inch QHD display with 2.5D glass, powered by a hexa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 processor and 18MP rear facing camera with OIS.

While current BlackBerry 10 devices can sideload Android apps, the Blackberry Priv will run these apps directly and will have other Google apps and services including the Google Play Store onboard. There will be no shortage of Blackberry services and apps too, the Blackberry Hub and more will be present.
